Many adults enjoy watching the sport and would love to learn how to figure skate but feel they are too old or don’t know how to get started. Others may have skated when they were young and would love to return to the sport but are not sure how to begin.
To address this need, Lori Robertson a 51 year-old figure skater, figure skating coach in training, occupational therapist and mom to two teenagers will be publishing an eBook for beginner adult figure skaters.
Scheduled for release in fall 2012, “Figure Skating?????.....At Your Age???? An Introduction and Encouragement for the Hesitant Figure Skater of a "Certain" Age.”, the guide will be a mix of helpful information and Robertson’s personal experiences as an adult figure skater.
Robertson says, “I liked the idea of writing an information guide on adult figure skating, but I wasn’t sure what to write about. Figure skating, as with any physical activity, is not really conducive to online coaching; we would have to be in the same place at the same time. When I researched books on figure skating, I found many beautifully illustrated books about champion skaters as well as books that provide an over view of the sport for the general public. What I did not find was a book devoted to aspiring adult figure skaters or former skaters who were thinking of returning to the ice.
