A BOOming HALLOWEEN
The late night parade of trick-or-treaters is forming. Nationally, 93% of children will take part in trick-or-treating helping make Halloween the second largest retail holiday after Christmas, reported local retailer Halloween Adventure.
In response to rising customer demands, Halloween Adventure is returning to local areas with a stores in Southern California and reports they will be stocking all the latest.
Television and movies traditionally drive costume demand. Movie Hunger Games and television’s Spartacus and Game of Thrones are expected to heavily influence some costume choices. “Kids will be clamoring for Monster High, Hello Kitty and Ninjas. Zombies will be among strongest costume sales for both kids and adults. Over 2.6 million of us will be dressing as Zombies and they’ve nearly overtaken our stores”, Ryan Goldman, Vice President, Halloween Adventure, chuckles.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Halloween Adventure, will open 13 seasonal Superstores in addition to its 3 year-round locations in Canoga Park, Sherman Oaks and San Bernardino. Up to 24 local seasonal employees are hired for each store. “Hiring within the community brings jobs where they’re needed and helps ensure local customers receive that special attention they deserve”, Ryan Goldman reports.
Halloween Adventure is proud to be considered a go-to source for entertainment industry costume, mask and professional quality make-up needs and a magnet for the television and movie productions. “On average, we receive 6 requests per month to film in our stores. Set designers find our stores and merchandise visually exciting and current, and have filmed scenes from TV reality shows to feature films at our locations. Entertainers and customers including David Beckham, Gwen Stefani and Slash also report they enjoy the vibe our stores give off”, reports Goldman.
Unlike other specialty retailers, the Halloween Adventure business model includes a mandate to give back to its community. Last year, the retailer donated $45,000 to the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society, and earned its status as a Sponsor of the national organization. “Halloween Adventure has always believed in giving back to the community. This year, our goal is to donate $50,000 to the MS Society to wipe out MS, a crippler of young adults in the prime of their lives”, announced Goldman.
