Thankfully for Phil, who works at the Worcester Distribution Centre that supplies Plumb Center and Parts Center, his girlfriend Jeannette said: “yes”.
He joined 21 other brave souls to raise £10,000 for the Acorns Children’s Hospice, which offers a network of care for life limited and life threatened children and young people, and their families, across the Heart of England.
“I always wanted to do a dive but just never got round to it,” said 45-year-old store man Phil. “I saw a flyer for Acorns and it’s a brilliant charity so I thought, why not. At first I thought, oh my god what have I done, because I’m no adrenaline junkie. But as the day got closer I became calmer, and started worrying about the proposal.
“I’d recommend sky-diving to anyone, it’s so exhilarating. It was a great day and Jeannette saying, yes, made it perfect,” added Phil, whose 13-year-old daughter Jasmine, and 14 family and friends were at Hinton Airfield, in Northamptonshire, to support him.
An Acorns’ spokewoman, said: “We rely on voluntary income to run our services, so the effort of fundraisers, such as the skydivers, is absolutely vital. On behalf of all the children, families and staff at Acorns, I’d like to say a huge thank you.”
