4:00 - 7:00 PM
Carolina Treatment Center has recently completed an expansion project and will have a special ribbon cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. with representatives from the Chamber of Commerce. BBQ plates from Jordan’s Catering will be sold from 4-7 p.m., with all proceeds going to benefit a local youth substance abuse prevention program.
“The goal of this event is to honor those who work in substance abuse prevention and treatment, and people in recovery from substance abuse disorders,” said Clinic Director Amy Morris. “In addition, the County Commissioner has signed a proclamation, and we will have speakers from local law enforcement, the prevention community, those who offer treatment services, and those in recovery.”
The event is one of a number of national events organized by Carolina Treatment Center’s parent company, CRC Health Group, the nation’s largest provider of behavioral health and addiction treatment services. Over 100 of CRC’s drug and alcohol treatment centers across the country will be participating in local events, all part of a national initiative sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
This year's Recovery Month theme, “Join the Voices for Recovery: It's Worth It,” emphasizes that while the road to recovery may be difficult, the benefits of preventing and overcoming mental and substance use disorders are significant and valuable to individuals, families, and communities. The theme also highlights that people in recovery achieve healthy lifestyles, both physically and emotionally, and contribute in positive ways to their communities. They also prove to others that prevention works, treatment is effective, and people recover.
