McCann will be conducting a Master Class with the evening’s vocal musicians from St. Charles East and North High Schools earlier in the day, and those singers will perform as the Opening Act.
Tickets are on sale now for $10 [seating is limited] to hear this spectacular jazz vocalist – a singer described by Jazz Critic Stanley Crouch as possessing “superb [pitch],…clear on the top and startling at the bottom, while all of the steps in between are polished with swing...”. Contact the St Charles Arts Council at 630.443.3794 or info@StCharlesArtsCouncil.org for ticket information.
McCann’s performance is underwritten by a donation from The St. Charles Group and by the St Charles Arts Council. Community Unit School District 303 is sponsoring McCann’s Master Class.
You don’t want to miss hearing what McCann can do with classics like Nina Simone’s “Black is the Color” or Billy Strayhorn’s “Lush Life”, or her wonderful interpretations of songs such as the Latin tinged version of the Rogers and Hammerstein favorite “Happy Talk”. Call or email to reserve your tickets now.

About Tammy McCann:
Tammy McCann is an internationally recognized Jazz Vocalist whose powerful, sultry, and emotionally charged voice paints pictures and tells stories by merging Classical vocal technique and Gospel esthetic with Jazz to create a sound that is completely her own. Or as Jazz Critic Stanley Crouch would put it, “Her pitch is superb,…clear on the top and startling at the bottom, while all of the steps in between are polished with swing...” Ms. McCann's warm delivery allows here audience to go on the musical journey with her and her engaging personality imprints the memory of her performance on their hearts.
The Chicago Tribune says * “ McCann is the next great voice out of Chicago!” Tammy McCann has performed with such luminaries as Ramsey Lewis & Les McCann, and toured as a ‘Raelette’
About the St. Charles Arts Council:
The SCAC will serve all those individuals (professionals, amateurs, and students) who produce tangible, consumable works of the imagination and all organizations, businesses, and groups that include and represent those people. This would be arts and cultural activities in their broadest sense, including graphic, plastic, and decorative arts, architecture, crafts, literature and poetry, music, theater, and dance. Ultimately we foresee a city municipal arts center, more working artists and opportunities in arts education, many privately-owned galleries, performance venues, and related arts programming.
About Community Unit School District 303:
Community Unit School District 303 is a high-achieving, pre-K-12 system covering 57.4 square miles in the picturesque Fox River Valley, 40 miles west of Chicago. In July 2011, Family Circle Magazine named St. Charles the Best Town for Families in the United States. Among the reasons why the City of St. Charles was given this honor is the involvement of District 303 in the community and the fact that District 303 works closely with the City of St. Charles, the St. Charles Park District, the St. Charles Public Library and other civic organizations to benefit the residents of the community.
The district operates 12 elementary schools, three middle schools, and two high schools.
