CalConnect Elects New Board Members

The Calendaring and Scheduling Consortium has elected new board members from Oracle and HealthLeaders Media.

Sept. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- CalConnect has elected two new members to its Board of Directors: Ciny Joy, Oracle, and Scott Mace, HealthLeaders Media, both of whom assume three-year terms as Directors. They join four other members of the Board: Gary Schwartz, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; Pamela Taylor, Sterling Commerce; Dave Thewlis, DCTA and Executive Director of CalConnect; and Guy Stalnaker, University of Wisconsin. The new Directors replace Kellie Hunter of PeopleCube and Pat Egen of Patricia Egen Consulting, whose terms ended.

Scott Mace has covered technology as a journalist for more than 30 years. He is currently senior technology editor for HealthLeaders Media, a magazine serving more than 40,000 hospital executives with an online readership of 200,000. Calendar interoperability has been a special interest of his for more than 15 years, starting with his final column as an InfoWorld senior editor, and continuing today through Calendar Swamp, the online blog of calendar interoperability he started in 2005. Mace holds a B.A. from San Jose State University and a certificate in clinical trial design and management from the University of California San Diego Extension.

Ciny Joy is the Technical Lead and acting Product Manager for the Oracle Unified Communications Suite Calendar Server product. She has worked on various parts of the Sun/Oracle Communications Suite for more than 15 years and specifically on the Calendar Server for nine years. Joy chairs the Resource Technical Committee, which addresses standards related to scheduling of calendaring resources.  She holds a Masters in Computer Engineering from Santa Clara University and a Masters in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.

The mission is to provide mechanisms to allow calendaring and scheduling methodologies to interoperate, and to promote broad understanding of these methodologies so that calendaring and scheduling tools and applications can enter the mainstream of computing.
