Louisville, KY. – Sept. 11, 2012 – Summit Energy, a subsidiary of Schneider Electric, has been named an approved vendor of energy procurement and management consulting services to The Cooperative Purchasing Network (TCPN) and its nearly 1,900 members. Summit joins a very short list of vendors in this category having been chosen after successfully completing TCPN’s rigorous vetting process and associated due diligence.
TCPN is a national governmental purchasing cooperative that seeks to leverage the purchasing potential of governmental entities across the United States. TCPN competitively bids and awards contracts to approximately 250 national vendors in accordance with purchasing procedures mandated by state procurement laws and regulations. TCPN contracts benefit thousands of public and private schools, colleges and universities, cities, counties, non-profits and governmental entities by increasing efficiency, shortening delivery time of goods and services, and stretching increasingly tightening budgets.
In keeping with its mission, TCPN turned to Summit Energy for Summit’s unmatched track record in negotiating natural gas and electric power contracts. With more than $30 billion in annualized energy spend under its management, Summit is well known and well regarded in the energy supplier community both nationally and internationally.
John Ricks, TCPN’s Senior Director Energy, cited Summit’s deep market intelligence in the energy field and its reputation for leading clients to cost-effective and sustainable energy as important factors behind TCPN’s recent decision. “We are very pleased to have Summit Energy as a TCPN-awarded contract holder, and excited to make their services available to our members. Summit Energy is one of the premier energy consulting firms in the nation, which was clearly seen in their response to our competitive solicitation process. We are confident Summit Energy will deliver TCPN member agencies reduced energy costs by way of their expertise in energy risk management, contract negotiation, data management and invoice processing.”
In addition to energy procurement, Summit also will provide strategic energy planning, risk management services, commodity rate analysis, data management and invoice processing to interested TCPN members. TCPN’s contract with Summit Energy will extend for 3 years.
