Chili, Music & Fun for a Cause at Black Tie & Blue Jeans Chili Cook-Off and Fundraiser

Jacksonville, FL – On Thursday, September 20, The S.E.L.F. (Service Education Leadership Foundation) Movement will hold the 1st Annual Black Tie & Blue Jeans Chili Cook-Off and Fundraiser at Digital Video Arts, 7775 Belfort Parkway, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Donation is $30 and open to the public.
Guests will judge the creations of local Jacksonville chili enthusiasts, participate in a silent auction and raffles. The Black Tie & Blue Jeans Chili Cook-Off will also feature live musical performance by the 5 X 7 Band and Amoya Photography providing instant photos. 100% of proceeds are used to purchase new education materials for Duval County Public Schools.
Background: In May, 2012, The S.E.L.F. Movement, in partnership with Duval County Public Schools and The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, hosted its 1st Annual Teen Safe Driving Awards Ceremony, honoring students from Duval County high schools who competed to produce 30-60 second public service announcements that promoted safe driving habits. Winners were awarded $3,000 in scholarship dollars and the school of the first place winners received $1,000 toward school improvements.
The S.E.L.F. Movement – The S.E.L.F. Movement’s mission is to encourage effective decision making and develop functional leadership qualities in high school students and to create sustainable community improvements. Founded in 2010, TSM is comprised of community problem solvers and has provided leadership development and scholarship programs to high school students in North Florida. The S.E.L.F.
