Georgia School District Leads the Way in Teacher, Leader and Staff Evaluations

Sept. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- Gwinnett County Public Schools, the 14th largest school district in the U.S. and the largest school district in Georgia, strives to be a system of world-class schools.  In order to reach this goal, Gwinnett partnered with Truenorthlogic to develop a performance-based evaluation system for all employees.  Starting with a teacher evaluation pilot in 56 of their 133 schools in the 2012-2013 school year, the evaluation process and management is greatly improved through automation.  Prior to the new performance-based evaluation system, the district had over 100,000 pieces of paper at the end of every school year to sort through, categorize, check signatures, and ensure the process was followed in compliance with the Georgia Teacher Evaluation state law.  Since the new electronic evaluation system eliminates the paper-based procedure, administrators, principals and teachers are saving hours and hours of time.  Gwinnett will tap into the Georgia Department of Education’s Teacher and Leader Keys Effectiveness System for required evaluations, while using their own evaluation system for their district’s unique initiatives.

“Truenorthlogic stood out because they have already built teacher, principal and staff evaluation systems for other districts across the U.S.  All of our wants and needs for an evaluation system were met.  Their reporting and dashboards to monitor progress, along with the ability to imbed a learning management system stood out to us,” says Keith Everson, Ed.D., Director of Employee Evaluation Systems for Gwinnett County Public Schools.

“We appreciate Gwinnett’s forward-thinking vision to have a performance-based evaluation system for all employees, not only teachers, and look forward to working with Gwinnett on sustaining their staff and educator effectiveness vision in the years to come,” says Jeanette Haren, President and CEO of Truenorthlogic.

Gwinnett’s next steps include rolling out the Leader Keys Effectiveness System in January 2013, phasing in evaluations of all district employees, and assigning professional development to educator’s needs to promote growth.
