Follow on Google News | 2013 Gosford City Australia Day Community AwardsEntries are now open for the 2013 Australia Day Community Awards and Gosford City Council is encouraging residents to nominate someone who makes a valuable contribution to their neighbourhood or local community.
2012 Gosford City Citizen of the Year, Mr Patrick Dell says that receiving the award was a great honour and had come as a great surprise. “Receiving a nomination was an honour in itself but to be singled out amongst a group of such dedicated and hard working residents was a humbling experience. “My family have been my number one supporters and without their encouragement I would not have been able achieve many of the things I have over the years. “St Edward's College has a set of core values on social justice set around solidarity and compassion for our most disadvantaged people; I value our inclusive school community and the opportunity they have given me to advocate for people who are marginalised. “If you know someone who you feel deserves some recognition take the opportunity to nominate them for an Australia Day Community Award. “It’s a pat on the back that they will definitely appreciate,” This year's Award categories are: • Arts, Culture and Entertainment • Community Event • Senior (60 years and over) • Sport • Volunteer (Individual); • Volunteer (Group/Organisation) • Youth (25 years and under) All nominations will go into the running for Gosford City Citizen of the Year. Nominations close on Friday 23 November 2012. To be eligible, all nominees must live in the Gosford City Local Government Area and nominations must be submitted on Council's designated nomination form.
