Our lemonade stand will include lemonade, specialty treats, and a time for people to donate their hair to Locks of Love! All money raised will go to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation and the hair to Locks of Love. Baked goods are generously provided by Great Harvest Bread Co., 933 Baltimore Pike, Glen Mills, PA www.greatbreadpa.com
Also participating in this event is County Seat Style, 105 North Church Street, West Chester PA who are generously providing their time and offering haircuts for Locks of Love.
Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses they provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country, carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501 © 3 charity, has raised more than $500 million towards fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 200 research projects nationally.
