Ten different churches took part in the event at Care UK’s (http://www.careuk.com/)
The event on 29 August was organised by the home to ensure residents living there are able to maintain their links with their local churches.
Manager Rosemarie Gray said: “When people move into a care home, they do not lose their faith and we are determined to ensure that, whatever their domination or interest, all our residents and staff can have the fulfilling spiritual life they choose.
“Many of our residents have also lived in the area all their lives and have built up extensive friendship networks through their churches and we want to encourage those and help them to flourish.
“The team here and the churches who took part were all very excited about the afternoon and it offered a great opportunity for people to come together.”
As well as the prayers and service, residents and visitors enjoyed music from a harpist as well as the chance to relax and chat over coffee and cake.
Rosemarie said: “We are a very new home and I hope that we will soon have an active role in the local community, with many friends to help us celebrate our residents’ events and successes.”
