A Life of Distinction For Your Life Event

Sept. 10, 2012 - PRLog -- I have an incredibly rewarding career, but sometimes – in fact, often – it’s a difficult one. It’s why I’ve decided to do all I can to encourage people to live a life of distinction. I know how short life can be, and I know how precious every day is. More than any other time, I’m reminded of that when caring for families of children who have died – and I learn something from every family who sits down with me.

Recently, I met with parents of a teen who’d battled illness his entire life. Although he’d been wracked with physical challenges since birth, this child’s spirit had soared far past the confines of his broken body. He’d brought joy to his family and inspired everyone he met during his short time here. He didn’t win any medals or write any books or sing any songs, but he lived a distinctive life because he lived – he woke up every morning and made the most of every single day he had, even if his “achievement” for the day only consisted of making his mother smile. He was a constant reminder that every moment we have is precious, and that not one single moment should be wasted on things that just don’t matter.

He didn’t waste a moment, and now that he’s gone, that knowledge is a great comfort to his family. They mourn his passing, but they celebrate the time that he had, because he did all he could with the time he was given. And that’s why I choose to do what I do – because I’m grateful to have the opportunity to care for families like this and to be reminded every day that life is precious.
