Sept. 10, 2012 - PRLog -- The organisers of the Somerset Business Awards are delighted to announce that a record number of companies have entered the 2012 awards, with the highest quality of entries than ever before! A 20 per cent increase in the number of businesses entering highlights how prestigious the Somerset Business Awards truly are.

Judges, who are now tasked with the challenging job of short-listing the entries, are very impressed by the exceptional standard shown by the entries, proving that despite economic pressures, Somerset businesses are determined to succeed. The glittering Awards ceremony, which takes place on 16 November, is a key date on every businessperson’s calendar and entrants have a lot to prove in order to be crowned the winner in their categorythis year.

Jenn Chidley, Marketing and Communications Coordinator at the Somerset Chamber of Commerce – the Somerset Business Awards’ organisers – is delighted with the entries for 2012 and comments, “It is fantastic to see the number of entries up again on last year. It just goes to show how important the Somerset Business Awards are to businesses in this region.The quality of the entries has improved dramatically, which means the judges are going to have an extremely tough time short-listing, making it a more exciting contest than ever!”

The Somerset Business Awards annually recognise business success, credibility and customerservice and are hotly competed for each year. Winning businessesachievegreat publicity and many Award winners go on to do bigger and better things following success at the Awards. Now in its seventh year, the Awards have earned a prestigious reputation and attractan increasing numbers of businesses each year.

A total of 14 categories were open to businesses across the county, including new categories: Skills for Growth Award, (sponsored by Somerset Employment & Skills Board) and the Energy Efficiency Award, (sponsored by Somerset County Council). Companies of all shapes and sizes have put themselves forward for consideration and an intensive judging process is now underway to identify the shortlisted companies for each category.

All shortlisted companies will be invited to the glittering black tie gala dinner and prestigious awards ceremony, which will be held on 16 November at the Somerset County Cricket Club’s conference centre in Taunton. The annual Somerset Business Awards are organised by the Somerset Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with a wide range of individual award sponsors.
