Sept. 10, 2012 - PRLog -- Washington, D.C. – September 10, 2012: GovComm, Inc. today announced targeting of the video surveillance industry for sale of its Central Management Server (CMS) monitoring solution as a new service and offers the CMS for physical deployment in closed network environments.  The GovComm CMS will play a fundamental role guiding video management server security consumers through their critical mission.

GovComm’s 2011 study of more than 3,000 digital video recorder (DVR) and video management server (VMS) consumers revealed that a majority of the world’s top security platforms do not provide adequate vital information to appropriate security personnel when an important event occurs that may render their video surveillance system ineffective.

DVRs are extremely susceptible to undetected video loss due to reporting constraints in their analog configuration unlike today’s VMSs which are increasingly selective and digitally empowered.    However, neither the DVR nor VMS are safe from intentional or unintentional loss.  Video loss can occur due to a variety of reasons including hardware and software failures, network, vandalism and larceny.  When an important event occurs and security personnel are unable to retrieve video, the system fails.

GovComm’s CMS was initially developed for internal use in 2007, has been thoroughly tested in our laboratories and deployed at multiple real-world 100+ channel video surveillance sites.  The GovComm CMS is DVR / VMS manufacturer neutral and is credited with detecting and reporting 100% of system interruptions and failures…in many instances before they occur.

The GovComm central management server operates by installing a client on the DVR / VMS that communicates and reports on hardware components such as the CPU, memory, hard drive(s) and IP cameras.  The GovComm CMS also reports on DVR / VMS software irregularities including database errors, system video loss, unauthorized user interference and interaction.

Today’s video surveillance products require redundancy that the GovComm central management server delivers.  The GovComm CMS plays an immersive role by providing timely information to security personnel facilitating high availability of video servers.

GovComm has found worldwide success in driving targeted, innovative products and services in the physical security, emergency notification and life safety industries.  GovComm customers include federal and state governmental agencies, defense contractors and high-end commercial enterprises.
