EducationWorld India School Rankings 2012- India's Top Day, Boarding & International Schools

Sept. 10, 2012 - PRLog -- Bengaluru, India - Vasant Valley, Delhi; Rishi Valley School, Chittoor and the Indus International School, Bangalore have been voted India's No. 1 day, boarding and international schools respectively in the EducationWorld India School Rankings 2012 (previously India's Most Respected Schools Survey).


The survey conducted by the Delhi-based opinion polling and market research agency C Fore (Centre for forecasting and research) polled a mix of 3,070 fees-paying parents, principals, teachers and educationists in 21 cities across the country asking them to rate 443 of India's most well-known schools on 14 parameters including academic reputation, quality of co-curricular and sports education, infrastructure, leadership/management, quality of alumni and faculty competence, disabled friendliness, teacher welfare and development, among other attributes. The perceptual scores awarded by sample respondents under each parameter were aggregated to arrive at a total score for 342 day schools, 57 legacy/traditional boarding schools and 40 new genre international schools.


"During the past few years, there's been growing appreciation of schools which offer students new pedagogies such as experiential, collaborative and peer learning. Within parent and teacher communities, there's new awareness that school education should be an engaging, joyful and life skills development experience for children. Therefore, so-called alternative schools which profess holistic, new pedagogies have become more popular and have moved up the tables," says Premchand Palety, founder-chief executive of C fore.


Day Schools: Vasant Valley, Delhi with an aggregate score of 1,301 (out of a maximum possible 1,500) has dislodged The Shri Ram School, Delhi (Gurgaon) to be ranked first in India, Delhi NCR and Delhi. It is followed by The Valley School, Bangalore (1,296) and The Shri Ram School, Delhi (1,292) and Mallya Aditi International School, Bangalore jointly ranked third all-India.

Other schools included among the Top 10 day schools are DPS, R.K. Puram Delhi (No. 5); Smt. Sulochana Devi Singhania School, Thane, Mumbai (6); Step by Step, Noida (6); Centre For Learning, Bangalore (7); Springdales, Dhaula Kuan(7); Riverside School, Ahmedabad(8); The School, KFI, Chennai(8), Vidyaranya High School, Hyderabad(8); Sishya School, Chennai(9) and Gitanjali School, Hyderabad (10), Sanskriti School, Chanakyapuri, Delhi (10) jointly.

Vasant Valley School, Delhi was ranked first in India, Delhi NCR and Delhi city as also on the parameters of academic reputation, competence of faculty, individual attention to students, teacher welfare and development, internationalism, special needs education and leadership/management quality


Boarding Schools: Rishi Valley School, Chittoor has retained its premier position as India's most respected traditional/legacy boarding school with an aggregate score of 1,276 once again followed by The Doon School, Dehradun. With a discernable shift with the SECA( socio-economic category A) public in favour of new age education, Mayo College Girls, Ajmer, jointly ranked second last year has been pushed down to No. 3, followed by Welhams Girls, Dehradun (No. 4) and Bishop Cotton, Shimla and Lawrence School, Sanawar, jointly ranked No. 5. Among other schools included in the list of Top 10 boarding schools; Daly College, Indore (6); Assam Valley School, Balipara(7), Mayo College, Ajmer (8), Sherwood College, Nainital (9); Chinmaya International, Coimbatore (9) and the Scindia School, Gwalior, Orchid International, Nashik and Birla Public, Pilani jointly ranked No. 10.

International Schools: Forty new genre international schools (defined as institutions offering the curriculums of offshore examination boards from primary/middle years onwards) of whom there was sufficient awareness within the respondents' base, were rated and ranked across 14 parameters of education provision. This year, there's been considerable churn in the international schools league table with Indus International, Bangalore and Dhirubhai Ambani International, Mumbai (both established in 2003) breaking the four-year duopoly of the vintage Woodstock School, Mussoorie and Kodaikanal International ranked third and No. 4 this year. Others included in the Top 10 are Mahindra United World College, Pune (4); Pathways World School, Aravali (5), Oberoi International School, Mumbai (6); Mercedes Benz International, Pune (6);The International School, Bangalore (7); Good Shepherd International, Ooty (8); Hebron School, Ooty (8) and Scottish High International, Gurgaon, International School of Hyderabad and Ecole Mondiale World School, Mumbai jointly ranked No. 10
