The Nokia Lumia 900 is currently Nokia’s premier Windows Phone (WP) device. The Lumia 900’s attractive design is based on the original Lumia 800, although it is greater in height and weight, and the unibody polycarbonate design feels like it could take a decent amount of punishment before succumbing to catastrophic damage. The 4.7 inch display of the Lumia 900 is the best we’ve seen on a WP handset, superior in colour vibrancy, darkness of blacks and clarity of whites. Battery life is fantastic, lasting over a day with medium-heavy use. The keyboard is fast, and we always appreciate a keyboard that can keep up with our speedy typing while offering enough space for large fingers.
The WhistleOut Opinion
The Nokia Lumia 900 is a fast, stylish Windows Phone (WP) and is definitely our pick of the current WP7 litter. The screen is unmatched by its current family and Nokia’s unique design style is still very appealing to us. Normally we’d recommend the Nokia Lumia whole-heartedly, but this time we must issue a caveat. The reason for this is Windows Phone 8 as a mobile phone operating system is soon to make its debut and no current Windows Phone 7 handsets, like the Lumia 900, will be able to update to Windows 8. As such, the Lumia 900 will soon be superseded so for the tech savvy, not having the latest OS will be a negative. However, this new release will put price pressure on this device and for value conscious consumers, this could be a key time pounce on the Lumia 900 which is the best WP we’ve reviewed.
