“Heliacal Rise” encapsulated many endearing songs, one being “Broken Track”. This song is about coming to the realization that a relationship is irreparably broken. It is compared to a freight train traveling full speed ahead with no chance of stopping for the fast approaching broken track. It is a ballad with a smooth melodic core. Vocals are unique in their own right, adding a rustic and dynamic feel to the song. The dynamic arrangement gives it a clear, crisp and dramatic voice all its own. ”Broken Track” is a self-reflective piece and carries a personal message for each person who truly listens to the words and allows themselves to become enveloped by the energy.
Charm & Chain writes amazing folk/indie rock tunes to which audiences can relate. They touch your heart and provoke emotion. Whether it is up-tempo, or more of a melodic, softer song, no one delivers it like Charm & Chain. In the end, each listener leaves enlightened and a better person. The reviews have been great. Heliacal Rise
(Self-released)
Singer/songwriter Laurie Kudis presents eight tracks of soulful and bluesy pop-rock, wearing the influence of Stevie Nicks and Tori Amos on her sleeve. Kudis' vocals croon and sway, providing a good accompaniment to the additional instrumentation backing each song. Heliacal Rise is a suitable nod to singer/songwriters of the 1960s onward.

“These songs as a whole represent a metamorphosis. Through the process of writing this album, I realized an internal strength that I didn’t know before. This is the meaning behind the album name. The Heliacal Rise of Venus represents, to me, the warrior and strong aspect of the planet’s cycle. That’s where I was emotionally with this project. I was learning and becoming more of that aspect of myself thru experiences that were also trials. This album also respects and gives voice to the dark and light aspects of myself/oneself without judgment. Or at least attempts to”.
