Mercury Exposure and Health Effects Discussed in New Online Video

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep. 9, 2012 - Today, the IAQ Video Network and Cochrane & Associates announced the release of another online video to help educate the public about issues that may impact their health.  The latest educational video discusses mercury in both the indoor and outdoor environments.

Mercury is a naturally occurring element that is found in air, water and soil. It exists in several forms: elemental or metallic mercury, inorganic mercury compounds, and organic mercury compounds.

“Mercury can be a concern in not only the food we eat, both also our outdoor and indoor environments,” reported Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane and Associates, the company behind the IAQ Video Network and the new public outreach video.  “Mercury exposure at high levels can harm the brain, heart, kidneys, lungs, and immune system. High levels of methylmercury, found in some foods, may harm the developing nervous system of young children making them less able to think and learn.”
