CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program used frequently by military special forces, local firefighters, and various law enforcement agents, but can be adapted to any fitness level. The CrossFit prescription is “constantly varied, high-intensity, and functional movement” says Coach Matt. “At CrossFit Chuckanut, the workouts change from day to day and use exercises that work your entire body in a way that mimics things you do in real life. All athletes from beginner to the elite athlete are challenged....And you are NEVER bored.”
The workout of the day, or “WOD” are done in a group environment where camaraderie and a sense of humor can go a long way. Athletes are welcome to attend the hour-long workouts sessions one-, two-, and five-times a week and coached by a CrossFit Level 1 certified trainer. The focus is on proper mechanics and getting everybody moving better in life.
CrossFit Chuckanut programming establishes a solid foundation in each of it's athletes for any physical contingency – prepare them not only for the unknown but for the unknowable. We focus on the physical skills in cardio, stamina, endurance, speed, power, flexibility, strength, coordination, agility, and balance. “By preparing our athletes for random physical challenges – allows them to excel at their chosen sports & life adventures beyond our doors. It's about winning at LIFE.”
Workout sessions are currently 6AM, 7AM, 11AM, NOON, 5:30pm, & 6:30PM Monday thru Friday with an additional session at 8:30am on Saturdays. The upcoming fall schedule will add a few more workout sessions to accommodate WWU, Whatcom, and BTC students & faculty members. We will also be starting our CrossFit Kids Program in the next week.
