I had a really hard time deciding whether or not I should get a reader. I tried the kindle fire, but couldn't read on it because of the glare (although i recently purchased a anti glare screen protector that works fantastic). My eyes don't get tired and there is only a tiny bit of glare once in a while (I am planning to buy an anti glare screen protector eventually). I have read until almost 2:00 in the morning. The ads are non intrusive (just the screen saver and very tiny at the bottom on menu screen). I have read three books on it and already, I have over 50 books at my disposal and I am only carrying around one light item. I will admit having a sylus does make changing the pages easier, faster and smoother.
A note about the adds - look at them I have already gotten a full price novel for one dollar (had a choice of 100 different novels). I am trying to convince my sister and friend to buy one. I want to try the "lend a friend."

Update- I have been using the text to speech feature and love it. Yes, it is a computer voice, but it is better then nothing and allows me and the kids to listen to books while doing chores. Note I have an audible account and audio books from there are way better, but a lot of books aren't offered on audible. Just don't listen to an audible book then the kindle voice because it is a hard transition.
