Recent surveys by the National Sleep Foundation and the Centers for Disease Control have informed us that nearly 50% of Americans have difficulty with sleep at least a few nights per week. Fully 20% of the workforce gets less than 6 hours of sleep weeknights; a level of sleep loss bordering on dangerous.
Insomnia, circadian rhythm problems, scheduling dysfunctions, medical conditions as well as family, work and environmental issues can all interfere with peaceful slumber. While the results of a poor night of sleep can be felt immediately the next day, the root cause of a chronic sleep problem can be more difficult to discover.
