Sept. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- A Norfolk firm of solicitors has recently been working hard in the local area to increase people’s awareness of the importance of writing a will.

Gordon Dean Solicitors LLP, a local law firm with offices in Norwich and Great Yarmouth, have offered a professional will writing service since opening their first office in 2005.
Recent statistics from unbiased.com show that the number of people without a will in the UK has reached 29.5 million – with 84% of this figure made up of people in the 18-34 age bracket.

Philip Bazley, head of the will writing department at Gordon Dean Solicitors LLP says, “It’s absolutely astounding, the number of people I speak with every week who do not understand the importance of writing a will. People tend to assume that everything will work out in their favour but I have seen first-hand several instances that have become far more complicated and stressful than they would have been if there were a legal will in place.”

Mr Bazley has recently given a number of talks on will writing and the team at Gordon Dean have even published a video to their YouTube channel that aims to explain will writing in plain English.

“Many people are put off getting a will because they think it will be costly,” explains Mr Bazley, “But things will be far more expensive and time consuming when there is not a legal will in place, making this initial cost a worthwhile investment.”

Gordon Dean Solicitors LLP offer a fixed rate for will writing of £144 for a single Will and £198 for mirror Wills (both inclusive of VAT).

When it comes to the division of an estate where there is no will in place, the rules of intestacy will apply. This means that unfortunately, in some situations, your estate may be dealt with in a way that is different to what you would have wished. Making a legally binding will safe-guards your estate, investments and assets – not to mention any dependents.
