All proceeds from the auction underwrite CCCS community outreach and financial education for low income women at area domestic violence shelters, legal clinics, prison systems, child care centers, as well as job re-entry and training programs. Raising awareness and funds to close the financial literacy gap for women – especially low income women – is the goal of the third annual Purses with a Purpose.
“We welcome men and women to join us for this special evening at The Samuel Lynne Galleries in the Dallas Design District,” said Kathleen Bauer, financial adviser with Murphy & Sylvest, LLC and chair of the volunteer host committee for CCCS of Greater Dallas. “We are planning an elegant wine pull and a silent and live auction to benefit the free financial education and counseling provided by CCCS since 1974. Trained educators and counselors work with everyone, but our event is focused on the special financial literacy needs of low income women who we teach in area shelters, legal aid clinics, child care centers, job training programs and even in the local prison system. We will be auctioning off weekend trips to Santa Fe, NM and Napa with winery tours, as well as a box with the Dallas Stars at the American Airlines Center.”
KXAS NBC 5’s morning anchor, Deborah Ferguson, is hostess and mistress of ceremonies for the event. The evening will also feature a wine reception and hors d’ oeuvres. In addition, Ms. Ferguson will interview one of the women helped by CCCS as a part of the brief program.
