PRLog - Sep. 6, 2012 - Long established independent online nursery retailer Oliver’s Babycare has a new owner. The company has been bought by EDPA Ltd, a multi-faceted online retailing group with established interests in the nursery industry and health and personal care products.

EDPA Managing Director, Gerad Barclay, said he was delighted to have the chance to add the Oliver’s Babycare name to the group. “Oliver’s Babycare is an established and trusted brand within the nursery industry, respected for its extensive knowledge of the baby products market and with a reputation for exceptional levels of customer service and customer support. These are values that we share at EDPA, with our emphasis on high quality products and customer service excellence, and we look forward to developing the Oliver’s Babycare brand further.”
Now, as part of the EDPA Ltd group, Oliver’s Babycare joins a number of other websites dedicated to offering high quality baby and child products including www.babysecurity.co.uk, www.babymonitorsdirect.co.uk and www.nursery-furniture.co.uk.

“Acquiring the Oliver’s Babycare website will allow EDPA to reach a broader market, with an expansion of our product range with items suitable for children up to the age of 5 years,” adds Gerad Barclay. “While we will still be supplying high quality maternity and baby products, we are excited to have the chance to extend our reach within the nursery industry.”

Oliver’s Babycare was set up in 1993 by Julie Baughan and Nick Coombes with a retail premises and showroom in Winchester. In 2000 the company launched its own website www.olivers-baby-care.co.uk which gradually took an increasing share of the business.
As the company expanded, the Head Office and online operation moved to Devon where the business continued to grow. Recognising that the future of retailing lay online, the Oliver’s Babycare retail store closed in 2011, allowing the company to focus on its website operation.

Oliver’s Babycare has won numerous awards including Best Regional Baby Products Retailer of the Year 2008 and Inspiring Women Most Developed Website Award in 2009. Oliver’s Babycare was also a finalist in the FSB awards in 2010.

The Oliver’s Babycare website is now back in action, after several weeks offline while EDPA made a number of technical improvements and upgrades to the site. In particular, the changes have allowed the website to work effectively on mobile devices. “More and more people are now making their online purchases via mobile devices so this is a key priority for us and we are using the latest technology to benefit our customers,” explains Gerad.

“The updated Oliver’s Babycare website retains the friendly, warm and trusted feel that it has always had, and we will be continually updating product information, parenting advice and blogs on the site.  We will be expanding the product range to include further high quality baby and child products, and ensuring that the Oliver’s Babycare website complements our other websites selling baby safety products and nursery furniture.”

“We look forward to developing our relationships with the many customers who have shopped over the years at Oliver’s Babycare, introducing the site, as well as the other sites at EDPA, to many existing and new customers in the future.”
