“We have an amazing feature this year in the Curves and Comedy Show hosted by plus comedienne and actress Erica Watson. The show will feature our keynote speaker comedienne extraordinaire Kim Coles and local legends Shanie D. and Cystal P. ! I cant wait for the show!”, says Executive Producer, Cassandra Jones-McBryde.


Erica Watson was born and raised in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood, with a BA and MA from Columbia College Chicago, Erica Watson is an actor, stand-up comedian, writer and film/television director. She appeared in the Oscar nominated film “Precious,” following starring in the feature film “Dirty Laundry.”   She has also been featured on TLC’s Big Sexy, The Dr. Phil Show, The Oxygen Network, The WE Channel, Black Entertainment (BET), MSG-TV and is a recurring talking head for The TV Guide Network.  Her critically acclaimed 1 woman show “Fat Bitch!” is touring around the US, and is a funny, yet thought provoking look at America’s obsession with weight. Erica is also a blogger for the Huffington Post.

Perhaps best known for her five-season turn as the unforgettable “Synclaire” on FOX’s ground- breaking comedy series, Living Single, Kim Coles has starred on numerous hit television programs including Frasier, Six Feet Under, In Living Color, One on One, and the uproarious TBS comedy series 10 Items Or Less as the villainous “Mercy P. Jones”.

Kim Coles is also known to reality audiences for having hosted on BET’s game show, Pay It Off and she’s appeared on The Mole, VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club and Coming to the Stage, BET’s search for “the next superstar of funny.”

Shanie D is a Detroit native and radio personality (Mason and Company’s top rated local show), comedian, writer, singer, and mother of two. She is known for her funny song parodies and energetic style having appeared on BET’s Comicview three times, Robert Townsend’s “Partners N Crime” The Next Generation and, most recently, winning Nephew Tommy’s comedy competition. She has opened for such greats as Dick Gregory, Martin Lawrence,  Sinbad, The Queens of Comedy, Mike Epps and many more.

Crystal P. has been making her way around the entertainment circuit. Chosen as the Washington DC Regional Finalist for the Gospel Superfest and having been voted Detroit’s New Queen of Comedy by MIX 92.3 WMXD and the Royal Crowned Comedian by FM98 WJLB, Crystal P. has opened for the King of Comedy, Steve Harvey; the P. Diddy’s Bad Boys of Comedy; Tracy Morgan, Incognito and has toured with Jonathan Slocumb’s Cuss-free Comedy Tour, and the Laughalujah Comedy Tour.  Crystal P. has appeared on Showtime at the Apollo, Last Comic Standing, Up in the Air and will be featured in the movie, Pawn Shop, alongside comedic great and Saturday Night Live pioneer, Garrett Morris and comedian Joe Torry. In addition, she taped a show with Vickie Winans called A Time to Laugh for B.E.T.
