NYC Couples Go On Camera About "Relationship-Texting" & the Problems It Causes

Sept. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- There’s a lot of discussion about the rudeness of texting in social situations, the dangers of texting while driving, and the risks and embarrassments of sex-texting and sending salacious photos via phone messages… but what about the ill effects of texting between couples – meaning when they substitute texting for calls or face-to-face discussions? This growing phenomenon creates its own array of problems, especially when two people are first dating and trying to get to know each other.

Dr. Antonia Martinez (Dr. M), the Inner Power Doctor , has been talking to couples throughout New York City about this very phenomenon and the problems and pitfalls that texting creates, and those discussions are shared, very frankly, in a series of videos now available on her YouTube channel.  The videos are funny, sometimes painful, and reveal common yet not commonly discussed feelings about the irritations, distrust, miscommunications, and other problems that relationship-texting causes.

So many issues arise with texting: misinterpretation (Intentional or careless capitalization translates to – “I’m furious!”); fibbing (“I’m on my way” translates to “I haven’t even started getting ready and I’ll maybe leave in 30 minutes); pretext (“What are you doing? How’s your meeting going, honey?” translates to “I know you’re not at a ‘meeting’ and I’m going to hound you every 5 minutes as punishment.”); and even advance deflection (“Oh no… boss just came in with a @#!load of work!” translates to “I don’t want to talk to you for the rest of the day.”).

These videos offer a taste of what’s to come in a series of events in Dr. M is hosting in New York this fall called Deep Dating NYC, relationship mastermind sessions that will be conducted under her leadership while participants are filmed for a possible TV show pilot.
