Ford LINCOLN of Franklin Announces Two 2013 Ford Vehicles Awarded Highest Safety Scores

Sept. 5, 2012 - PRLog -- Recently the all-new 2013 Ford Taurus and 2013 Ford Explorer have earned top safety ratings from the both the U.S. Federal government (5 stars) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The testing analyzes vehicle protection in front- and side-impact collisions, as well as rollover resistance.

The Taurus and Explorer achieved their top ratings thanks to safety measures like:

•   Redesigned airbags, including dual-stage driver and front-passenger units, and, in the Explorer, Ford’s first passenger-side knee airbag
•   Ford’s Safety Canopy System, which leverages a rollover sensor and side-curtain airbag to provide enhanced protection in certain side-impact and rollover scenarios
•   Enhanced safety restraints, with the Explorer introducing inflatable second-row seatbelts
•   An array of electronic safety systems, including stability control, forward collision warning with brake support, and the company’s Blind Spot Information System
•   The SOS Post-Crash Alert System, capable of automatically unlocking vehicle doors, as well as activating the horn and emergency flashers, after deployment of airbags and/or seatbelt pretensioners

(In addition to the Explorer and Taurus, the 2013 Lincoln MKS also garnered a five-star Overall Vehicle Score in the recent NHTSA testing.)
