Jason Stowe to Deliver Utility Supercomputing Keynote at Bio-It World Cloud Summit

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep. 5, 2012 - Cycle Computing, the leader in Utility Supercomputing software, announced today that CEO Jason Stowe will deliver the plenary keynote at the 2012 Bio-It World Cloud Summit  on Wednesday September 12, 2012 in San Francisco, CA. The Summit explores the cloud and data megatrends impacting life science communities while showcasing strategies for building next generation infrastructures.

The explosion of big data and cloud has enabled developers to create alternative applications to effectively managing petascale systems which minimize cost, time and energy. As the ‘data fabric’ era proliferates and resources are increasingly distributed, engineers have to balance performance requirements while maintaining centralized and virtualized IT environments.

Stowe will share real world examples for accelerating life sciences with utility supercomputing and cloud HPC from Cycle's Top 10 Pharma and BioTech clients. He will also explore use cases for successfully running common life science tasks, including NextGen Sequencing, Genomics, bioinformatics, molecular modeling, GWAS, PK/PD, and clinical trial simulations using Utility Supercomputing and cloud HPC.
Last April, Cycle provisioned a 50,000 core utility supercomputer for Schrödinger to deliver the company’s largest full-featured and scalable cluster deployment. CycleCloud replicated data across seven AWS regions where run time per job averaged 11 minutes and the total work completed topping 100,000 hours. Schrödinger’s researchers completed over 4,480 days of work, nearing 12.5 years of computations in a few hours, with cost under $4,900 per hour at peak requiring no upfront capital.
