FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep. 5, 2012 - ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – Boddie-Noell Enterprises and the United Way Tar River Region jointly announced today that Boddie-Noell will donate the company’s former administrative building on Sunset Avenue to the United Way for its headquarters.

The United Way is expected to relocate its offices to the facility by the end of this year. The 4,900-square-foot facility at 2501 Sunset Ave. will be the first stand-alone office the United Way has owned. The donation of the building represents an extremely generous gesture by Boddie-Noell, according to United Way Executive Director Ginny Mohrbutter.

“We are ecstatic and grateful to Boddie-Noell for their donation of a building to our organization, as it will serve as a hub for our non-profit community and provide a wonderful space for our partners, volunteers, staff and citizens,” she said. “This donation will be a reminder for many years to come of Boddie-Noell’s generosity and its support of the United Way’s ongoing commitment to the twin-county region.”

The Williamsburg-style facility was built by Boddie-Noell in 1965 by company co-founders Carleton Noell and brothers Nick and Mayo Boddie. It served as the company’s administrative office for 17 years until the company’s new headquarters was completed in 1982 on Noell Lane just off of Hunter Hill Road.

“We’ve always believed in sharing with the community and the United Way had a need and we had a nice building – it’s a good combination,” said Mayo Boddie, Sr., Boddie-Noell’s chairman and co-founder, of the building’s donation to the United Way. Boddie-Noell and its employees have had an active presence with United Way for decades and the company’s employees and senior leadership have served in a variety of voluntary roles, including leadership positions.

The United Way offices are currently located at 230 Sunset Ave. in space provided by Southern Bank, Mohrbutter said. Mohrbutter expressed thanks to the bank for its  leadership and support during the United Way’s tenure in the bank’s business center. The Tar River Region United Way is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2012.
