Reviewing a bid for a steel building can be very tricky. It is important to take all cost factors associated with your project into consideration. 1. Make sure that all steel used in your project has been engineered. This means that an engineer has certified the design for the steel structures used in the building. It also means that the steel has been cut to the specifications mandated by the engineer. Your county will require that an engineer sign-off on the design. Hiring an engineer post the bid can add significant cost and time to your project.
2. Make sure the bid price includes the cost of insulating your structure and also the cost of the footing engineering and all doors. Many contractors do not disclose these significant costs until after you have hired them.
