By: NABA, INC. Greenbelt, MD (September 4, 2012) - The National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA) Board of Directors announced the appointment of Guillermo L. Hysaw after an extensive candidate search as the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of the association’ Guillermo’s distinguished career includes benchmark contributions that were “Industry Firsts” in the automotive sector. His successes continue to impact core business initiatives which deliver sustainable and profitable revenue streams, earnings growth (ROI/ROS) and Share-holder value. Formerly VP Diversity at Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc., Guillermo delivered key cultural transformation and corporate development results: including retail market growth, vendor / supplier increased purchases, diverse capital and money market management. Guillermo began his career at Toyota in 1987 as an integral part of the start-up of the Lexus Division. He was selected as one of the first ten executives hired to develop, name and launch the corporate entity. He was responsible for the development of the dealership criteria; establishment of dealership representation (location) globally; capitalization requirement guidelines, and building a financial model that produced profitability scenarios. Prior to joining Toyota, Guillermo spent 16 years with General Motors Corporation, where he distinguished himself in various Corporate, Regional, Zone Management, National Marketing, Brand Development and Communication Strategies positions. NABA’s Chairman of the Board Calvin Harris, Jr., CPA indicated "Mr. Hysaw brings a proven track record of development and transformational leadership. These skills will be of great advantage to NABA, its members and stakeholders and better allow the Association to explore new opportunities within and beyond the accounting profession.” In accepting this position Guillermo Hysaw said, “I am deeply humbled by the opportunity to serve this legacy organization and to be a catalyst for real change that meets NABA’s enduring needs of its members and corporate partners. The full measure of our collective success requires the commitment of everyone, to be the change the organization seeks in moving NABA forward.” He will work in conjunction with the NABA Board of Directors, regional and chapter leaders to develop and direct implementation of the Association’ Guillermo served as a Board Member of The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation; President / CEO & COB, First Tee of South LA; and a member of the Executive Leadership Council. Additionally, he is a Lifetime member of the NAACP; Lifetime member of the National Black MBA Assoc. (Past Vice President, LA Chapter); and a Lifetime member of ALPHA PHI ALPHA Fraternity, Inc. (Beta Psi Lambda, LA chapter, which recently named its Mentor Program in his honor). He also serves on Southern University MBA National Board of Advisors. A native of Bakersfield, California, Guillermo earned his BA in Psychology / Philosophy; MA in Management; an EMBA in Finance / Economics; and an Advanced Executive MBA, in Strategic Management; from Claremont Graduate School (Peter F. Drucker) in Claremont, California. He holds certificates in Kellogg / Marshall / Anderson Business Mgmt. Schools, as well as the National Assoc. of Corporate Directors (NACD) certification. Guillermo resides in Irvine, California, with his wife, Kimberly, and daughter, Megan Ashley, a senior in the Marshall Business School at University of Southern California (USC).
