Sept. 4, 2012 - PRLog -- Heal My Voice is a charitable organization started in Jan 2011.

The mission is to: Empower women and girls to heal grief, loss, and trauma, and reclaim their inner authority, so they can discover and use their leadership skills in their homes, communities, and the world, by developing collaborative projects that encourage leadership, community building, and the reclaiming of each woman's voice.

This Empowered Voices Movement was inspired by the global virtual book launch party on Facebook of Empowered Voices: True Stories by Awakened Women on Sept 15. The Movement is about an opportunity for ALL of us to JOIN into the conversation.

After recently watching a Youtube video with Helen Reddy singing, "I Am Woman," from a recording in 1975, Andrea Hylen, founder of Heal My Voice, reflected on the changes in the world since she graduated from high school in 1975. In the song, Helen sings these words,

"I am woman watch me grow
See me standing toe to toe
As I spread my lovin' arms across the land
But I'm still an embryo
With a long long way to go
Until I make my brother understand"

She reflected on how many of her brothers do understand now and how they have been encouraging and supporting her mission with women in Heal My Voice. As she searched for other songs about Empowered Voices of Women, all she found were list after list of songs that spoke of women picking themselves up after a man abused or hurt her and broke her heart. That is part of empowerment. Never to let anyone use and abuse or take advantage of you physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. And there is another piece of empowerment. Where are the songs about connecting with our wisdom, our strength, and our voices? Do we only see Empowerment as something that comes from overcoming abuse? This experience led to the idea of a Movement, a conversation about Empowered Voices.

Mark your calendar for Sept 15. On that day, post something on your Facebook Page about an Empowered Voice. A photo, a quote, a song. Then, connect to at least 5 people on Facebook and ask them to join the conversation.

If you feel inspired, on Sept 15, connect to Heal My Voice or Empowered Voices: True Stories by Awakened Women Pages on Facebook. Or gather people together and create a wave of your own. The point is to JOIN the conversation and share your vision of an Empowered Voice.

WHAT IS AN EMPOWERED VOICE?

*An empowered voice listens.

*An empowered voice speaks the truth.

*An empowered voice will not be silenced.

Empowered Voices: True Stories by Awakened Women...the Book

One vulnerable word at a time, the successful authors in this book reclaimed hidden aspects of their own personal power: writing to heal a story in their lives. These twenty-three women initially met through a coaching program including both men and women, and thus were accustomed to “listening” to one another, practicing the artful trade of supporting and empowering others. In many of the stories, women wrote about the ways they had been diminished in religion, families, relationships, school, work and the world.  Their confidence, feelings of worthiness, personal power, and open-eyed wonder had been chipped away and doused with someone else’s fear, manipulation and control. They had turned down the switch to their bright shining lights, to stay safe and hide their power to preserve and protect their hearts. They share their stories as the next step so that you may see your situation and your life in a new light; helping you to reclaim your own personal power, to move past obstacles and find the strength to step into your greatness.

An Endorsement: “When a woman speaks her truth, everything changes.  She heals and moves forward and those who are touched by her words are healed and transformed, too. From the moment I met Andrea Hylen many years ago, I knew she was a catalyst for women's healing and transformation. And, Heal My Voice proves this amazing woman's quest to empower herself and the universe of women. This is a book you will want to share with your friends, family and colleagues -- and their friends, family and colleagues! ~ Debbie Phillips, author, Women on Fire: 20 Inspiring Women Share Their Life Secrets (and Save You Years of Struggle!) www.debbiephillips.com

An Endorsement: "I have had the pleasure of meeting many of the authors in person through a common training program we took together in 2011. As I met the women, I saw their true essence, even though they may not have been showing the world. Through the program, I watched them bloom and unfold into who they really are. To read the stories is to see a side of them they did not know they had until they reclaimed who they are. They were vulnerable and from that vulnerability, they are stronger and better people. I hope there is a story in here that will inspire you to look within yourself to discover who you are and that you will take inspired action to stand and speak with your Empowered Voice."

I write for those women who do not speak, for those who do not have a voice because they were so terrified, because we are taught to respect fear more than ourselves. We've been taught that silence would save us, but it won't. ~Audre Lorde

“Women’s spirituality” emerged after women spoke for themselves and about themselves. Only then, did we speak of what we experienced as sacred and what we knew to be spiritual information. This is gnosis, intuitively felt soul knowledge, it is what we recognize in the marrow of our bones, what our heart recognizes as true for us—and from this insight, true for other humans and for the planet." ~Jean Shinoda Bolen

"A woman’s voice is the seat of her power and her compassion. A woman’s word can heal or destroy; it can be a balm and a ballast, or it can be a source of divisiveness and destruction. A woman’s voice is the seat of her power not only to choose her own destiny but also to manifest it. A woman’s voice is a woman’s choice." -Yogi Bhajan...
