Sept. 4, 2012 - PRLog -- CHICAGO, Ill. – September is the International Ovarian Cancer Awareness month, and The Signature Room at the 95th® Charity of the Month program therefore supports the Ovarian Cancer Symptom Awareness Organization (OCSA) as it seeks to educate women and their families of the silent symptoms of this deadly disease.  The year-long program Charity of the Month program has donated over $1 million to more than 200 Chicagoland organizations since the program’s inception in 1993. Created by owners, Rick Roman and Nick Pyknis, the program donates 10 percent of sales generated from the Signature Menu to the non-profit highlighted during a specific month.

OCSA was founded with the mission of educating women, their friends and families about the silent symptoms of ovarian cancer.  This Chicago-based nonprofit is especially significant as it was co-founded by Rick Roman with his wife, Susan M. Roman, and their friend Vallie Szymanski in 2010.  Susan’s own diagnosis inspired the direction of this outreach organization and while she lost her own battle with the disease in March 2012, the nonprofit maintains a tireless commitment to raising awareness about the symptoms and the need for early treatment of this number- one gynecologic cancer killer of women. For more information on Ovarian Cancer Symptoms Awareness, please visit http://www.ovariancancersymptomawareness.org.

The Signature Menu offers mouth-watering seasonal options for each course, in addition to a specialty cocktail made exclusively for the month of September. Ease into fall while sipping on a cherry lime margarita prepared with Aguila tequila, cherry purée and fresh lime juice. For starters choose from the smoked quail with creamy potato salad and natural reduction; carrot ginger soup served with crispy phyllo strips; or the panzanella salad with white anchovies and Ligurian olive oil. Main courses include a lightly smoked sable fish served with bok choy and sake ginger butter or a pan seared rack of elk accompanied by wild rice pilaf, baby carrots and natural jus. Finish up with a delicious serving of house made apple Panna Cotta with prosecco gelée.

Mission statements of all Charity of the Month non-profits are posted on the restaurant’s website along with full details regarding the application and review process. All beneficiaries are chosen during an annual application review.
