New Guide Released: Learn to Do Emo Makeup the Right Way

Pierce says recent research had uncovered conflicting methods for doing emo makeup and that because of the confusion and misinformation kids were mistakingly doing it incorrectly.  Getting their makeup wrong results in some emos being ridiculed by more experienced emos.

That may be an inconsequential thing to the average parent or bystander member of the public. But for these young people struggling with high emotions and dark mood swings, failing to fit in with their peers can be traumatic and even life threatening.  “We felt we needed to do something about it,” says Pierce.  To teach an effective way to do Emo makeup, http://emomakeup.org has just released its detailed guide to creating the Emo look. “It may not seem such a big deal to ordinary people,” she said “But in our subculture, there are subtle and significant factors that determine how you fit in or don’t fit in.”

Vangin doesn’t claim the guide as an “Emo Bible” but by following the guidelines and methods, kids will safely build a real emo look that peers will easily recognize and respond to.

Along with its distinctive clothing, jewelry and hairstyles, Emo makeup is one of the obvious ways this subculture expresses itself and stands out from the norm. An amazing range of styles and creativity is used by Emos to express themselves and their love ofspecific music, jeans, writing and raw style.

The pitfall for this highly emo-tional coterie is to miss the mark by having the wrong look or wearing the wrong thing. “This guide will help kids to build on the right foundation,” an apparently intended pun from Vangin.  Pierce also claims “Emo makeup can be done in more than one way, of course,” but it does have certain features that identify it as emo makeup. “Once you learn the right way to do it, you can add your variations” she says “It’s a style that is always changing and you can come up with new ideas.”
