PRLog - Sep. 4, 2012 - Prosolia UK, one of the fastest growing solar energy companies in Europe, has just moved their UK operation to the Knowledge Centre at Wyboston Lakes. Established less that a year ago with offices in Cambourne, the company has experienced dramatic success with UK turnover exceeding £12 million, and required larger offices to cope with their rapid growth.
Prosolia solar power move to Wyboston lakes
The Spanish based company set up their UK operation last October to design, install and manage large scale solar-powered renewable energy systems that range from commercial rooftop installations to large, ground based solar farms covering up to 35 acres. The company not only manages the solar farm projects during their entire working life, but also partners with investment funds and sources the finance to fund the installation of these community friendly renewable energy schemes.
Head of Prosolia UK, Peter Collins commented, “Our success underlines the importance of solar farms as a viable source of renewable energy, which is fed directly into the National Grid to help achieve the UK’s renewable targets for the future. It also makes economic sense as the landowner receives a guaranteed rental for 25 years which is double the income he would earn by farming the land, and he doesn’t have to lift a finger.
Solar farms are a less intrusive alternative to wind turbines as once installed, the solar panels are not a scar on the landscape, nor do they have any moving parts or produce emissions or noise. They don’t even require bright sunlight because they generate electricity from simple daylight, so they provide a consistent power supply despite the vagaries of the British weather.
Collins added, “We currently employ seven staff, but we plan to employ a further 4 during the coming year. We spent a lot of time finding the right venue for our future growth and Wyboston Lakes ticked all the boxes. It is a prestigious location with modern offices fully fitted with the very latest communications infrastructure. More importantly for us it offers the flexibility to accommodate our planned expansion, and has all the facilities on site that we, as a successful international business need.”
