Sept. 4, 2012 - PRLog -- The Wellbeing Symposium on Wednesday 3rd October – it’s on the national agenda and it needs to be on yours.

The Maidstone event is aimed at anybody who takes care of staff - in workplaces, schools, community organisations or the voluntary sector.

It’s been proven that work improves health and helps to maintain it and if working conditions are right, productivity will flourish.

Dame Carol Black is the keynote speaker. She is the government’s expert advisor on health and wellbeing and will be talking about the Workplace Wellbeing Charter, a scheme to help employers demonstrate their commitment to the health and wellbeing of their workforce and letting delegates know how to get involved and what it offers.

The focus of the symposium is ‘Engaged Prevention’ – being involved with staff, offering support and guidance on wellbeing in order to prevent absence arising from poor health. By having these measures in place, it is thought to be more cost-effective than dealing with problems once they have arisen in terms of sick leave, absence and reduced productivity on return to work as people recover to their previous output.

Speakers at the event will be talking about how to motivate staff, how to inspire them and how to help them to achieve personal success.

This unique and pioneering event at Detling Showground in Maidstone will provide employers with the opportunity to find out about some great health and wellbeing partnerships in Kent, giving you the chance to knit them into your business too.

The Symposium will be unlike the usual and familiar conference set-up, offering delegates the opportunity to pop into workshops, listen to speakers and visit break-out sessions, choosing those most relevant to their business.

Workshops covering nutrition - how to cook and eat well for home and work will be on offer and you can watch live demonstrations, taking away information on how to make it work for you and your workforce.

There will also be a seminar on how to recruit the right staff and retain them, along with how to employ and maintain staff with mental health issues.

The Symposium is sponsored by Kent-based Water Wellbeing. A firm which deals with all aspects of wellbeing across many business sectors. Managing director Ben McGannan said: “This event is the first of its kind in the south east and really does aim to improve the wellbeing of people at work.
“It’s important to keep staff happy, healthy and motivated and this symposium will give people the ideas and resources to start a wellbeing programme or expand what they already have.”

If you are responsible for looking after staff, sourcing benefits, rewards, taking care of their wellbeing or arranging benefit packages, the day is not to be missed.

Whatever your business, you will find this event essential as it offers networking opportunities that could otherwise take you many weeks – all under one roof. Tickets are £149, £249 for two or £299 for three. You can also buy a table of 10 for £990 to perhaps entertain clients at an unusual but beneficial event for their business and yours.
