Award Winning Songwriter Planning Tour

Chattanooga, TN is a great music town with lots of talented songwriters. And, although the internet provides a global stage for those seeking to expand their audience, hitting the road is still an important part of growing a fan base.

Sept. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- When some people think of Nashville, they think of Vanderbilt University and the AT&T Building, formerly the BellSouth Building. Others envision Broadway with its novelty stores and bars aimed at tourists. Still others dream of visiting the Grand Ole Opry or LP Field, home of the Titans.

For Cleveland, TN based songwriter A Man Called Bruce and his fellow songwriters, Nashville is about Music Row and the many song publishers, musicians and entertainment industry professionals who might hear one of their songs and show an interest. Their desire is that a song (or songs) will be recorded by someone who can bring their music to a much larger audience.

In the past year, A Man Called Bruce has performed live on TV (WRCB), radio (WUTC & WDVX) and at traditional music venues in Chattanooga, Knoxville and Nashville, TN and their surrounding areas.

However, there are many other cities that offer important links in the chain. Places like Charlotte, NC; Athens and Johnson City, TN; Dahlonega, GA; Phoenix, AZ; and Corrales, NM.

We've all most certainly heard of Charlotte, NC, and maybe you've even heard that it is home to a bustling music scene. The Evening Muse has introduced thousands of original independent music acts to Charlotte for nearly a decade.

Phoenix, AZ isn't widely regarded for its music culture, but I assure you that one does exist there. Fiddler's Dream Coffeehouse is an acoustic music showcase bringing original music to the Valley of the Sun for the past 25 years.

And, did you know that Jim Benelisha, owner of The Acoustic Coffeehouse in Johnson City, TN has been bringing great music to his community for some time now? If you live in the area and you're into music, you already know this.

Athens, TN is located between Chattanooga and Knoxville. Angela's Deli there has a great sound system and offers music every Friday night.

According to their website, The Crimson Moon Café in Dahlonega, GA is known as "the southeast most intimate music venue," hosting a wide variety of regionally and nationally touring acoustic artists.

And what about Corrales, NM just north of Albuquerque? Ever heard of it?

You would remember it, especially if you've ever been to Corrales Bistro Brewery. Almost every day of the year they have talented musicians playing Jazz, Celtic, Bluegrass, folk and other popular musical offerings.

These and many establishments like them all over the country offer a place for up-and-coming songwriters to display their work in front of new audiences. Audiences made up of local music aficionados, enthusiasts and anyone who truly appreciates new music.

"I'm not a teen pop star and my music isn't for everyone," says A Man Called Bruce who, along with his management team (his wife), is in the process of booking shows between TN and AZ (and back) for the month of December.

Last month, Bruce was recognized by the Chattanooga Songwriters Association (CSA) when he was presented with the Songwriter of the Month award for July 2012 on August 9th.

"It's truly an honor," Bruce admits, "but, awards don't  impress everyone in this business. I have to get out there and play my songs for anyone who'll listen."

So, that's what he is doing. With dates confirmed in all of the above mentioned cities and more to come, A Man Called Bruce is traveling beyond his local area looking for new ears to hear his songs. "I'm already going out west to see one of my girls graduate from college in December, so I might as well play music along the way," Bruce admitted. "I'll even play house concerts!" Songs by A Man Called Bruce are mainly in the Americana music genre and his solo act includes all original music featuring acoustic rock, country and blues.

Steve Bogard, president of the Nashville Songwriters Association International said Bruce is, "...obviously a talented writer."

These are kind words from important people, but it takes more than kind words to make a career in the music industry. And nothing is more valuable than bringing the music to the most important people of all... those who enjoy it most... people like you and me.
