By: Carl Nagaitis, Bryher Business Partnership For the fund raising efforts of the committed charity supporter and his company, Warrington-based document management specialists Sharples Group, so impressed the sponsors of the raceday they decided some recognition was deserved. The Betfred Sharples Group Handicap Stakes was so named to honour the company’s support for charities including the Bolton Lads & Girls Club. Then a second race was give the title: The Betfred Bolton Atlantic Challenge in recognition of Mark’s up-coming trans-Atlantic charity rowing mission. “We were really honoured to be recognised,” “Betfred’s decision to name a race after our Atlantic Challenge was very generous. I’m one of four guys who aim to row our way across the ocean to raise funds for the Bolton Lads & Girls Club late next year. It’s a truly daunting challenge but we are well into our training.” Mark is now looking forward to taking a relaxing break from training and enjoying the races with his wife Tracey. However, as MD of Sharples he will have the job of choosing the best turned out horse in the Sharples Group Handicap Stakes and presenting the winning owner with a prize.
