Follow on Google News | Stanford Coachworks and Age UK Calderdale & Kirklees support Ladies that do lunch!Age UK Calderdale - Ladies who rely on a charity for day care and outings will be among the many beneficiaries of a new minibus to help them travel in comfort.
Age UK Calderdale and Kirklees approached Stanford Coachworks, who they have used on a number of occasions previously, to fulfil their requirements. The company provided the 2010-registered black LWB VW Transporter, which sports a smart red interior. It includes six detachable seats on NMI in ‘conference mode’ with a removable table between them (facing three seats). There is a Braun in-board lift to load passengers when seats are removed. The vehicle has twin sliding side doors for easy accessibility, and rear saloon seats trimmed in red leatherette. It also has the facility to carry two wheelchairs once the six seats have been removed. Age UK Calderdale & Kirklees provide a wide range of services and support to older people in the community. The charity works with the Asian Ladies Centre to provide a day care service which includes transport. Averil Thompson, Care Services Executive for the charity, wanted a single wheelchair bus and was looking at the smaller models, but when Stanford showed her a slightly larger bus, it fulfilled two purposes. It was bought primarily for the Asian Ladies Group. Averil was delighted that the minibus was delivered within a week of her order being placed and has received fantastic feedback. She said: “The ladies were really impressed with the whole bus. They are very private people so they like the darkened windows. “They are using the minibus because they love socialising together, getting out and about on shopping trips and picnics in the park. The drivers also like the rear parking sensors as this is something they get concerned about.” David Hardacre, of Stanford, said: “We were pleased to be able to help out Age UK again and are thrilled to hear that the minibus is bringing enjoyment to the ladies.” Stanford also recently donated £250 to Age UK Calderdale & Kirklees in a corporate sponsorship to the charity, which in return includes mentions on their website and newsletters to show how they are working in partnership.
