Last year's PollyGrind festival event included a concert, burlesque performances and a zombie red carpet walk. Turning three this year, the Las Vegas underground film festival is looking to put on its biggest, baddest and best incarnation yet and will include the first ever PollyGrind Group Art Show. It along with a PollyGrind "live" film competition and a can good drive for Three Square are apart of the event's community outreach program that is being dubbed "Feed Your Creativity."
The PollyGrind Revenge of the Grind Group Show will be held at Gallery 222 inside 222 Imperial from October 1 to 31. Big pushes will be given to the event on First Friday, as well as during multiple screenings at theatre7 throughout the month, including intermission field trips to the show.
Art can be any style and of anything in the spirit of PollyGrind, which is all about the dark side. Suggested themes - zombies, werewolves, found footage, killers, robots, she-devils, Halloween, monsters, retro, film, filmmaking, atomic blasts, Godzilla, nuclear, vampires, drive ins, grindhouse, grunge, underground, outlaws, renegades, mobsters, rebels, dark horses, under dogs, exorcisms, revenge, music, art, pinups, burlesque, and even food.
The show will be curated by PollyGrind founder Chad Clinton Freeman, who is a big fan of Bettie Page, Frankenstein, armadillos, retro movie posters and aliens.
The art show is also a contest. An award will be given to the winning piece. All pieces will be considered for promotional imagery for future festivals. All artists that are involved with the show can set up a table to sell art at PollyGrind's drive-in night at Atomic Liquors on October 20.
