Sept. 2, 2012 - PRLog -- Meet Tom O’Neal, Photographer to the Stars

SALINAS, CA – On Sunday, October 14, 2012, the National Steinbeck Center welcomes Photographer Tom O’Neal in an intimate setting to talk about his experiences with such luminaries as Mick Jagger, Jim Morrison, David Crosby, Cass Elliot, Jim Croce and many more who make up the history of the genre.

This special encounter will start with a reception at 5:00 PM with wine and small bites.  The conversation will be from 5:45 – 7:00PM at 1 Main Street in Salinas. There will be a suggested $10 donation to benefit the National Steinbeck Center.

Tom recently spoke at the National Press Club in Washington D.C.  Two of his pieces, an outtake from the “Déjà vu” album and a pensive photograph of singer Joni Mitchell, were unanimously chosen by the Board of Governors for The Smithsonian Institution Gallery’s permanent collection just a few days after his National Press Club show ended.

If you look closely at some of the most famous rock-and-roll album covers from the 1960s and 1970s, you will notice Tom O’Neal’s work! This would include nine Steppenwolf albums, which included, at the time, an obscure song called “Born to be Wild” and some 60 other covers.

He shot the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young “Déjà vu” and “4 Way Street” covers.

For a photographer, it doesn’t get any bigger than this. His work will now be on display for generations to come.

Tom is currently working on a book about his work, which he hopes to complete next year.  To learn more about Tom’s work, visit his website, www.scenefrominside.com.

Tickets for this talk will be available soon at www.brownpapertickets.com.
