Logistics specialist launches product to help energy companies’ employees be safer and more

Sept. 2, 2012 - PRLog -- The Mobile Access Control System (MACS) allows oil and mining companies to monitor where employees are located at any time during work hours - even if they are based at multiple sites.

Jim Black, Managing Director of J J Black Consultancy Limited, said: “The Mobile Access Control System, known as MACS, works by employees swiping their ID card or finger using biometrics in front of a series of tablets that records their movements to and from camp and out in the field, such as at a mine, oil rig or well head.”

“The Mobile Access Control System is fully portable and works off batteries, so oil and mining companies can take this out into the jungle and other remote parts of Africa and monitor, in a single web-based system, the movement of their employees.

“The Mobile Access Control System will help energy companies to improve productivity of their employees as they will know who is working where and when, and allow them to manage their employees better.

“As the MACS helps energy companies to know where their employees are at any time, particularly in less safe environments, this will also help to improve security of those employees.”

J J Black Consultancy Limited has developed the product in partnership with Time Tronics of South Africa.


“It is a private network, so does not need to link into a company’s existing IT networks,” said Jim.

“The MACS produces a report - summarised with a simple traffic lights’ graphic - showing if a site manager needs to take any action.”
