New Electricity Retailer Donates 50% of Profits to Alberta Charities

Albertans can now buy their power from Sponsor Energy (rather than Enmax, Epcor, ATCO, Fortis or Direct Energy), support the charity of their choice, AND pay less on their power bill.

Sept. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- Sponsor Energy Inc. is the newest retailer of electricity in Alberta, having just launched services to residential and small commercial customers on September 1st, 2012.

Their business model is unique in that they donate 50% of their profits on electricity consumption to Alberta-based charities selected by the customer. Every customer (residential & commercial) who signs up with Sponsor Energy can choose which charity these “profits” are directed towards, and Sponsor Energy makes the donation to that charity. Albertans can essentially support the charity of their choice just by using power every month.

Charities who have signed up as Community Partners of Sponsor Energy include the Alberta Cancer Foundation (and 17 cancer care facilties across the province), YWCA Calgary, Calgary Food Bank, Edmonton Food Bank, Lethbridge Food Bank, Airdrie Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, Make-a-Wish Northern Alberta, Inn from the Cold, the MEOW Foundation, NeighbourLink, Hope Mission, Fresh Start Recovery Centre, Alzheimer Society Calgary and dozens of others across Alberta.

“The response from the charities has been overwhelming” states Carolyn Martin of Sponsor Energy. “We have nearly 50 charities on board as Community Partners, giving Albertans a true choice of who they want to support while at the same time saving money on their electricity bill each month”.
