Follow on Google News | Rotary Club of Suntree will present the ninth annual “Great Tastes at Suntree”On October 20, 2012, between 5:30PM and 8:30PM, the Rotary Club of Suntree will present the ninth annual “Great Taste at Suntree”, and for the second year, this event will be held at the Suntree Country Club.
By: Rotary Club of Suntree Tickets will be sold for $30 per person, and this year, all net proceeds will be donated to the The Children's Hunger Project, which provides weekend meals to children, in need, during the school year. Studies have shown that the lack of adequate nutrition affects the cognitive and behavioral development of children. The National School Lunch Program is a federally assisted meal program operating in schools for children from families below a certain percentage of the poverty level. In some elementary schools, in Brevard County, 80% or more of the students are on this free or reduced meal program, but for some students, lunch on Friday is the last regular meal they will receive until the following Monday. Volunteers from The Children's Hunger Project package food items, which are delivered to an expanding number of Brevard County elementary schools, and the schools then provide the packages to children at risk on Friday afternoon. The food is purchased from donations or funds raised at events such as The Great Tastes at Suntree. For additional information, contact Joyce Hathaway, Chair of The Great Tastes At Suntree, 8255 N. Wickham Road, Suite 101, Melbourne, FL 32940, (321) 591-7809, thegreattasteatsuntree@ End
