Sep. 1, 2012 - The online Travel guru Yatra.com have revealed its strategy of and hints of acquisitions by 2014 as to double the revenues up to Rs.7000 crore in the upcoming 5 years. Yatra.com has already made 5 acquisitions in the past 1 and a half year and is considering more buyouts to be made in various segments like business, destination, management etc. "We would be making a couple of acquisitions in the next two years. We are aiming to double our revenues from the present Rs.3500 crore to Rs.7000 crore in next five years,” stated the Marketing and Strategic Alliance Pratik Mazumdar. Adding more on the information on the acquisitions he said, "It could be holidays business, which could be online or offline. It could also be a destination management company or large sized travel agents, who have a lot of retail business".
Yatra.com acquired four major companies naming Travelguru, buzz in town and MagicRooms respectively. The Travelguru acquisition helped Yatra.com acess to more than 600 hotels in the Indian subcontinent and over 70000 hotels worldwide. He also said, "Currently, 70 per cent of our revenue is from air travel and 30 per cent from the holidays segment. In the next two years both the segments will contribute 50 per cent each”. These strategic moves will help Yatra.com to strengthen its grip on the e-commerce travel and hotel booking market that has helped it gain various other milestones.
