Del Sur Residents Celebrate Start of Academic Year at Area Schools

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 31, 2012 - When bells began ringing at 8:30 a.m. last Wednesday morning, Del Sur residents celebrated the start of another academic year at area schools. This year, many new residents will walk their kids to schools that have achieved top state and distinct rankings. Even better, residents may pass a Del Sur park, stone labyrinth or pool of early-morning lap swimmers on their way.
Residents at Del Sur have access to three Poway Unified School District Schools within or near their community, including Del Sur Elementary School, Oak Valley Middle School and Del Norte High School. A fourth proposed school, which will be a K-8 adjacent to the community, is set to open in fall 2014.
“As a Del Sur resident and parent of two students, I couldn’t be more excited to welcome another school year,” said Shelley Federhart, Del Sur Elementary School parent and president of the Del Sur Educational Foundation, which supports the school. “Every year, my kids are challenged and invigorated. It’s great to watch.”
As the school year begins, Del Sur Elementary, Oak Valley Middle and Del Norte High School faculty, students and parents know that they are part of something special. They are part of a school that has been ranked #1 or #2 in the district; a school that has achieved top-tier Growth Academic Performance (API) scores; a school that offers new, state-of-the-art facilities such as the elementary school TV studio or high school cycling room; and finally, a school that is surrounded by a spirited community.
“Living in Del Sur, I’m able to walk my kids to school in the morning,” added Federhart. “There are tons of parents out, and it’s great to feel the energy and positive environment that surrounds the schools.”
Del Sur residents have access to six neighborhood parks, five with year-round swimming pools heated with solar panels, which they may pass during their daily commute.
