"Y-Guides is designed to build a strong relationship between parents and their children," says Stacey Huff, senior program director at the Y. "It's a great opportunity for a parent and child to spend time together, to really get to know one another, and to meet other families."
Y-Guides are for kids in kindergarten through third grade and is divided into four groups. Indian Guides are for fathers and sons, Indian Braves are for mothers and sons, Indian Princesses are for fathers and daughters and Indian Maidens are for mothers and daughters. Tribes are formed by neighborhood. Activities include regular tribe meetings, campouts, pool parties, pinewood derby races, skating parties, games and arts and crafts.
The September 15 Over-Nighter begins at 6:00 p.m. Parents and their kids will enjoy a campfire, smore's, songs, skits and a pancake breakfast.
