USMD Prostate Cancer Center Set to Sponsor Prostate Cancer Awareness Series

Aug. 31, 2012 - PRLog -- With Prostate Cancer Awareness Month right around the corner, the experienced team of specialists at USMD Prostate Cancer Center are set to sponsor a series of events to educate the public on the disease that affects over 230,000 men in the United States annually.  Every 2.6 minutes a man in the U.S. is diagnosed with prostate cancer.   Our upcoming Prostate Cancer Awareness series is an opportunity for us to teach the public the significance of routine prostate cancer screenings.

The Prostate Cancer Awareness series begins with the center’s 4th Annual Open House on Saturday, September 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. located at the USMD Hospital in Arlington, recently ranked 4th in the nation for cancer care by CareChex.  During the Open House, guests are encouraged to tour the facility, meet the physicians, and receive an autographed sports memorabilia item from Pro Football Hall of Famer Bob Lilly, the celebrity spokesperson for USMD Prostate Cancer Center.

On Saturday, September 15, the USMD Prostate Cancer Center will be administering free prostate screenings from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the 11th annual Cowtown Cruisin’ for a Cure located at Sundance Square in Fort Worth, TX.

Finally, the cancer center will conclude its Prostate Cancer Awareness series on Saturday, September 22 with the 2nd annual, highly anticipated Great Prostate Cancer Challenge 5k and 10k races at Vandergriff Park located at 2801 Matlock Road in Arlington, TX. All proceeds from the race event are designated to the non-profit organization ZERO, which advocates for research funding and treatment access, and provides free prostate cancer screenings.
