Follow on Google News | Youth Invited To Join Scouting Across South Central TexasAnnual Fall 2012 recruitment campaign, School Night for Scouting, conducted by Alamo Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, will bring excitement and values to area boys.
By: Angel Martinez Youth and parents will get to meet Scout leaders and learn more about the Cub Scout program through video presentations and displays. Youth will also get to do fun activities that evening through crafts and games. “Cub Scouts don't just read about exciting adventures or watch them on television, they live them,” says Michael de los Santos, Scout Executive of the Alamo Area Council. “Scouting combines excitement with educational activities and lasting values. It also allows parents to witness their boys strengthen their character, develop good citizenship, and enhance their mental and physical fitness. Along the way, scouts develop new friendships while learning and having fun,” he said. The Alamo Area Council is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and over 8,000 youths are expected to join Cub Scouts during August and September during School Night For Scouting.
